On a Saturday in July, we gathered to do something simple and unfashionable: pray over our nation, and sing together.

Pastors from a number of local churches came out — which is exactly what an inter-church alliance is supposed to look like. Men and women who normally spend their Saturdays in different buildings, in different traditions, stood in the same place and prayed for the same country. We were also joined by a representative from Turning Point USA.

We lifted up our nation in prayer. We worshipped together. And people who had never met discovered they had been carrying the same burden all along.

That is the whole idea behind the Truth and Freedom Alliance. Not a new denomination, and not a political machine — just believers from across the churches of our area, willing to show up together.
